Someone posted on a trade forum last year. He'd been running a plumbing company for eleven years. Good revenue. Busy enough. He figured when it was time to retire, he'd sell the trucks and walk away.
Another operator replied. Asked if he'd ever had the business appraised. He hadn't. Didn't think there was much to appraise.
The appraiser came back at $1.9 million. Not for the trucks. Not for the tools. For what he'd built the customers, the crew, the work that kept coming back every year.
He had no idea he was sitting on that.
